Slackware's worked great for me. I don't go for Fedora, though.
One distro can't be for everyone. God, but I sound like a perscription commercial -.-
There are some nice distro choosers, they don't work perfectly, but they're pretty good, here's the one I used: http://www.zegeniestudios.net/ldc/http://www.zegeniestudios.net/ldc/

You have to have a boot loader that has puppy as an option(grub is commonly used, puppy has it's installer). If it's saying that the file system is NTFS that is a windows file system. You have to make room for the new fileesystem by either deleting the NTFS file system(this method will get rid of any data in the partition) or shrinking it.

My problem with puppy is it's hard to install programs. Nothing comes as dotpup or pet. As far as I can find out, it doesn't support any other format, and I can't use source format, because I can't get gcc installed somehow. Also, the only visible speed difference is on a really old, slow computer, and otherwise it goes just as quickly as many other systems. But that's just me.

A) You had 2.13, they are up to version 4.0.
B) They now support slackware packeges.
C) Dotpups.de is the major mirror for .pup's and .pet's
D) Gcc requires Devx_(version here).sfs and that is a bit of a pain to install, but there are automated scripts to do it.

There should be a screenshot app in the start menu, I think under graphics.
Bob, my friend won't give me back that old version, so I got a newer one. I'll try a slack package. Maybe the Devx will work this time, too.
