Ok first, make a ext3,ext4,reiser2, or reiser3 partition. Also get a linux distrobution.

Yes. Try a 1 GB swap partition along side the other partition.

Those aren't graphical. I'm tring to make it easy on him (not too much shell propting... Yet). It can be done though.

meh, even though I do prefer GUI on Linux lots of time. Shell in this case works much better and easier than interface.

Also, It sounds to me like he hasn't got linux installed yet, he's just making the initial partitions, wich should be possible in the installer program. Depends on which linux distro it is.

huh?
im lost and the gpart is being retarded.
i got on a cd like the installation told me to, and when i put it in the other computer, i got 2 hour lagg....
it takes 2 hours to get to login screen, half an hour to get to desktop, half hour to get to my computer, half hour to get to cd drive, and then i see there isn't anything there to do ANYTHING,

i want to cry

Did you boot into Windows(your not supposed to) Set the CD Drive to a higher priority than your HD in your BIOS. What Linux distro are you trying to install?(flavor of linux)

when i set boot priority to cd drive, it says at boot that the cd is invalid

maybe you should come over lol
